MAGMA - This is the first coloration we are developing.  Like the name implies, this variety is fiery colored.  The crest and shoulders are
deep mahogany.  The neck hackle and saddle feathers are dark glossy green laced in brilliant orange.  This strain has a black beard and
muffs and black feathers down the shank.  The tail is glossy green/black with orange lacing.  Breast is medium orange with black spots on
the end of each feather.  Wing coverts are glossy green and red.  Majority of the wing is black gloss and the primaries are cinnamon faded.

Hens are mottled black, tan and light gold on the lower half of their body.  Tail is mostly black.  Some feathers have a lacing as well as this
irregular mottled coloration.  Upper half of the neck and breast is light gold through to the head.  Crest and beard are darker black.  Breast
is spotted/ speckled as in the same manner as the cock.  Legs are blue/grey with black shank feathers.
Only lacks the feathered shanks and laced tail. Hackle could show more lacing as well

Developing the Mad Hatter
Our very own unique breed- the Mad Hatter.  This page is a breakdown of our birds, showing birds we used as the Parental Generation (P), and offspring to
follow (F).  The ultimate goal is to have a bird with cocks being around 5 lbs and hens around 3 lbs.  They have slightly feathered legs that are a bluish grey.
They sport a unique facial expression and this is where they get the name from.  The comb  starts as a folded single comb then splits into 'devil horns'.  The Mad
Hatters also have a beard and muffs.  A crest on top of their head is similar to the Polish breeds but is less distinguished, giving them a wide crest that isn't
over-bearing.  This unique comb and crest, combined with the beard and muffs give this bird the appearance that it is glaring at you!  As with most breeds, some
males are aggressive and others are not.  They are pretty docile over-all.  Hens lay a medium-large egg and are very productive for their small size.  The
roosters are also a perfect size for broiling.  This great new breed will be sure to delight you with eggs, meat and unique beauty!
